One Year Challenge
This week at the OYC, we are excited to see new arrivals Nick Potter in Birmingham, UK and Emily Schaub (below, in the pink shirt) in Scotland. They will serve and be trained for a year at each of these locations.
We praise God for brothers and sisters like Nick and and Emily who step out in faith to take the One Year Challenge!
God really did promise that the harvest is plentiful! Last month, one of our One Year Challenge sites saw three baptisms in the space of two weekends. These new brothers were all met by brothers and sisters on a One Year Challenge. Jerry and Howard (right, top and bottom) were baptized on the same Sunday within minutes of each other. Connor (left) was baptized the next weekend. All of them are students at the same university.
These two sisters, Londi and Marin, arrived at their One Year Challenge sites after long hours of flying, lots of planning and many prayers. Londi arrived this past Sunday afternoon, Marin, at 1 a.m. this morning! We are so encouraged by their faith.
This week, an usual set-up for a baptism at one of our OYC sites. While preparing to fill the baptism pool, the water faucet broke off at the wall, sending water spraying out all over the balcony! Some quick-witted OYC guys devised a "water slide" from a yoga mat and got the pool filled (and the water main turned off!) in time for an encouraging baptism.
How do you get ready for an One Year Challenge when you have been told you're not ready to go? Watch this week's episode of The OYC Guys for some encouragement. Being told you're not ready doesn't mean "no", it means "get trained!"
This week we celebrate the arrival of an entire family of four at one of our OYC sites! These parents of two young children were baptized in the teens and campus ministries of the Mission Point Christian Church in San Antonio, which has sent many disciples to church plantings locally and around the world. We are encouraged by their faith!
Considering the One Year Challenge? Don't worry about being a spiritual superstar or super talented in ministry. Just go!
In this week's episode of The OYC Guys, Daniel shares how God used him—and is still using him—on his OYC despite his weaknesses and struggles.
This week we welcome Budapest, Hungary as the newest One Year Challenge site! The Budapest Church of Christ is looking for brothers and sisters with spiritual ambition to impact Hungary for Christ, one person at a time. They want to restart the campus ministry and reach the over 150,000 students studying in Budapest. They also want to restart a young professionals ministry. You can learn more at the One Year Challenge website.
So far in 2017, we've received 56 registrations from disciples interested in a One Year Challenge! At the same time last year, we'd had only 39 registrations. We're on track for over 200 OYC registrations this year.
