"The story of your life is the story of the long, brutal assault upon your heart by the one who knows what you could be and fears you." - John Eldredge, author of Wild at Heart
Come join us for the first annual Christian Counseling Conference being held in Lancaster, California from August 18-19, 2017. Understanding mental health is a great need in our spiritual family. In the fall of 2006 I received the most devastating phone call of my life – my mom had lung cancer. What? In my family?! How could this be? She had never smoked a day in her life, was always the picture of health and, we all expected her to live well into her 90s, maybe even 100. Needless to say, I was confused, overwhelmed, emotional, and distraught.

Grief Journey In Motion: Finding Peace in Grief Recovery is a book that can be used in a group setting or individually. Grief and mourning work is best worked on with others in a safe and confidential, loving environment. These eight-week groups provide the needed support for church members and visitors to walk this journey together, most effectively.
God has placed on my heart an idea that I want to seek your help with! I am a Treatment Counselor at a residential treatment facility for kids with mental health and behavioral challenges. The population of kids we serve are those who suffer from any mental health struggle possible: depression, anxiety, bipolar, suicidal, and so much more. Most of the children have also been severely abused, neglected, or abandoned and have experienced trauma that is hard to imagine. The children who live on campus range from 10 to 17 years old.
"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." -- Proverbs 4:23

There has been a trend in the past decade in the International Churches of Christ away from mentoring and counseling in the church, toward private counseling – that is, disciples going outside the church for many “ordinary” counseling needs.
This is prevalent in some of the more persistent problems such as addiction to pornography, depression and anxiety, deep-rooted bitterness, childhood abuse issues and a variety of marriage or other relationship issues.
