Southeast Churches Partner to Plant Clemson Church PDF Print Email

If anyone tells you that the Kingdom dream is dead, tell them that our God is not finished yet! As a matter of fact, he’s just getting started!

Our fellowship of churches have been through a lot over the years. But to think of it, God’s Church has always been through a lot! Are we really that generation where it all comes crashing down, or the one when the gospel ceased to move forward powerfully? Of course not! Matthew 19:26 reminds us that, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

In 2007 talks about planting a new church and a new campus ministry in Clemson, South Carolina began between the leadership groups of several southeast churches. Contrary to what it may seem, it’s not not a matter of just deciding to send some people to a new city and start having worship services. There is so much more that goes into sending disciples out to preach the word. Discussionsof financing and budgeting, who will lead the team, how to recruit team members, when to officially plant the church, and most importantly, prayer! Lots of it!

Including the Athens, Georgia church which serves as the planting church, A total of four southeast churches have partnered to help financially support this mission. Each Church giving as much as they are able, and even beyond their ability. The Dream is NOT dead! As a matter of fact, for the Columbia, Charleston, Athens and Savannah churches, the dream is very much alive!

In March, Stacey and I were asked to lead the mission team to Clemson. We moved back to Athens, Georgia in May to train and organize our team. I was converted in the campus ministry at the University of Georgia in 1994 and in 1996 I married Stacey who was converted in the teen ministry in Atlanta.

We are so excited about what God is doing and how through his Spirit he has kept the dream alive within us! We’re also excited about our relationships with the partnering congregations and are so grateful for their generosity in giving -- especially in a time of financial difficulty. And finally we’re excited about the opportunity that we have to bring the Good News to Clemson, South Carolina!

So, if anyone tells you the dream of taking the Good News all over the world is dead, you can let them know otherwise! There is much to be done and our God is with us! "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of theharvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."Mt. 9:37-38
