Following a year-long battle with knee injuries, Ian Scott returns to the National Football League. The Gainesville native and former Gator heads to the west coast to play for the San Diego Chargers.
Ian Scott signed a two-year contract with the San Diego Chargers Tuesday.The Chargers brought Ian in for a workout and quickly determined that he is ready to help the team’s defense.
Ian spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, culminating with a start at defensive tackle in the Super Bowl.Since the championship season, knee injuries have kept him off the playing field for more than a year.
While in camp with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, Ian hurt his knee and missed the entire season.The former Gator player was let go by the Carolina Panthers last month because he was not healthy yet.
Ian became a Christian in 2000 during the first year of the Gainesville Christian Church. Ian and his wife, Crystal, have three kids:Skylar, Savannah, and J.J.Keep Ian and his family in your prayers in the coming weeks as he works to get back on the playing field.
