As a parent you want to impart to your children the truth and meaning of God's word. You want them to learn scriptures that they will hide in their hearts (as the Psalmist says) so they will grow in their understanding of God's will and his love.

John and Kim Scott are both busy medical doctors, yet they fight to spend quality time with their three children. To help their children memorize scriptures, they came up with a plan that involved a flash card approach. Go to: http://www.dpibooks.org/Default.aspx?tabid=59&cid=45&sid=2&ProductID=471&page=0 to see a short video of the Scotts as they use this memory tool with their kids. They have been astounded at how effective this approach has been, so they decided to share it with others.

John Scott says in the preface to the book, "This collection of thirty scriptures represents an idea that lay essentially dormant for three years, even as we continued to be amazed by our children's recall of Bible verses from a few homemade picture flash cards. In sharing this concept with friends, we found the primary obstacle to expansion was obtaining appropriate pictures which captured the heart and substance of God's word. We especially wanted photos that would communicate to children in other families and that could be used in good conscience in regard to copyright laws. The result of this pursuit is in your hands."

In the video mentioned above, John says, "The world is constantly throwing visual images at our kids and putting pictures in their minds that they will always remember. What we are trying to do is to put pictures in their minds that they will always remember and will benefit them in their relationship with God."

In Proverbs 22:20-21 Solomon says, "Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, teaching you true and reliable words, so that you can give sound answers to him who sent you?"

Now the Scotts offer "thirty sayings" for you to share with your children to give them "counsel and knowledge" and "true and reliable words."
