A Generation in Waiting PDF Print Email

Over the last year and a half I have walked past the Kingdom Kid's classrooms, with the usual focus of dropping off my children, on my way to the worship service. After all, I have a sermon to preach and people to see. However, last night, my view of the Kingdom Kids Ministry changed forever.

I was blessed by God to be part of a meeting with some of the most loving and faithful disciples in all the Kingdom of God. Throughout the meeting, I listened intently to these great servants speak of their love for the children and their unyielding dedication to this great Ministry. I also realized, there is so much more to this Ministry and the people who serve in it.

As the night went on, there were a wide range of emotions that filled the room. One being frustration. Yet, that frustration did not carry a voice against the deep love for God and the children. I was deeply inspired by their unyielding devotion to see this generation introduced to the living God. Hope filled the room and our hearts, that one day this generation would have a chance to know God and to make Him known to all the world! I must say, I was also deeply convicted that I have not really grasped the great importance of serving in this foundational Ministry. More than that, I was called higher by the love of the men and women who serve in the Kingdom Kid's Ministry. Sunday after Sunday, they serve quietly and faithfully... never once complaining. How they shine like stars in the universe.

As I left the meeting, I felt a personal resolve to serve within this Ministry. After all, my children are part of this Ministry. My presence in a class of children will no doubt be more impacting on my heart than on anyone else's. After all, children have a unique gift of bringing faith to life in ways no other Ministry can. One can be sure, that anyone who serves in the Kingdom Kid's Ministry should feel blessed, since Jesus Himself said, "Do you hear what these children are saying?' they asked him. 'Yes,' replied Jesus, 'have you never read, ' `From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise." If a child has the ability to bring praise to God, one might do well to listen to their prayers and faith.

I would like to say thank you to all the Coordinators and Teachers who come every Sunday morning to serve the children of the Greater Nashville Church. Your tireless service and love is truly moving to all the church and Heaven above! Hebrews 6:10-12 "God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them." You can be sure that God sees your love for Him as you serve the children, the families and the church.

To the members of the Greater Nashville Church: The brothers and sisters who serve in the Kingdom Kid's Ministry are a living example, one we all would do well to imitate. It is with repentance of heart, that I ask each one of you who can, to first, pray daily for our children, and then for the Coordinators and Teachers that labor for this Generation in Waiting. Second, if you are asked to serve in any way... Stop for a moment and consider the example of Paul.

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me."

Finally, consider this: The Kingdom Kid's and the Youth Ministry are what I call 'Foundational Ministries.' This means, they are vital to the future of the church. What good is it to gain the whole world, and yet, in the end, because we failed to reach this Generation in Waiting this happens... Judges 2:10 "After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel."

The next time you pass by the Kingdom Kid's room, take a moment to thank the Teachers and the Coordinators for all they do. Then, stop and look at this Generation in Waiting and understand, we are all here to support the family, the parents with one united resolve... to win our children to Christ. Anything other than that is simply not an option; to keep this Generation in Waiting.
