After one successful battle against cancer, this young boy faces another. Thank God for his heart yet pray for his complete recovery as God wills.

Matthew Robinson, our 5 year old son, is battling cancer for the second time in his young life. Matthew was first diagnosed with Wilms Tumor, kidney cancer, stage 4 in August of 2006. He endured a 6 hour surgery, the removal of one kidney, radiation, chemotherapy and went into remission in early 2007.

At at routine scan this month, it was discovered that Matthew had a rapidly growing tumor in his liver. He underwent a 7 hour surgery and removal of 60% of his liver. Matthew spent two weeks in the hospital (1 week in ICU), went home for a few days to celebrate his 5th Birthday (April 29th) and is now back at the hospital receiving inpatient high dosage chemotherapy.

He will be in the hospital every 3 weeks for 4-6 days of chemo for 3-4 months and then will have a month long hospital stay for a bone marrow transplant. The oncologist will likely follow this up with an 18 month low dosage chemo pill regimen. Our oncologist is at the top of his field, but science tells him our son has a 50% chance and that the next 4 months will be horrible for Matthew. As disciples, we are faithful. As parents, we are terrified.

Please pray that our faith wins out - always. Please pray for our son's complete cure. He is a very special boy with a smile that lights up the room. Matthew loves to dance, loves power rangers, loves music, loves "The Incredibles" and loves to play in water. He has done a photo shoot for the wonderful Make-A-Wish organization, has appeared on billboards, print ads and in two local commercials. He loves to help his Daddy practice songs for Worship Leading at our church and even helps the ushers to put out songbooks on Sunday mornings.
