HOPE worldwide Red Cross disaster Relief ministers and evangelistsAn Invitation from HOPE worldwide and the American Red Cross

Dear Minister/Evangelist,

HOPE worldwide and the American Red Cross would like to invite you to an exciting learning opportunity at this year’s HOPE worldwide Global Summit “The Power of Partnership”. On Saturday May 17th from 11:30am to 1pm we will be holding a luncheon and workshop entitled “The Role of Pastors in Disaster”. We invite you to join us for this historic event!

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, recent tornadoes, fires, and even the shootings on college campuses and church properties, have made us all more keenly aware of the many dangers facing local communities. Churches and church leaders need to be prepared to respond and we want to share with you some leading ideas on ways you and your congregations can get prepared. Here are some of the topics we will discuss:

  • The general level of preparedness in the country
  • The complex task of building a “culture of preparedness”
  • 5 - Things Ministers can do strengthen preparedness in their congregations

Please register online for the Global Summit at www.hopeww.org. Space is limited and on a first come first serve basis. Please read below an excerpt from a Red Cross article about a local church’s response to a recent tornado:

As the days after the storm went on Minister Kilgore explains, “People began to tire. Volunteers from all over the US have helped us. Our congregation and Red Cross workers have worked side by side. They have brought respite to the folks in the shelter and to us. This is the way it is supposed to work. When the local resources are depleted and the local community is exhausted, the Red Cross offers its national resources to continue the relief. It is a beautiful system.”
