Through Water & Fire CDThe Chicago Church of Christ celebrated it's 25th Anniversary in 2007. To commemorate this special time, the church produced this special collector's edition CD, Through Water & Fire, featuring 12 original songs and a multimedia presentation with over 800 photos, more than a dozen historical documents and the sermon "Speed His Coming" by Roger Lamb from 1988.

Through Water & Fire CDThe CD is available for purchase online from the web site www.ThroughWaterAndFire.com from where you can also read more in depth about the project.

Some new songs were written for the CD, and some familiar classics can be found on there as well. All songs were written and performed by disciples from the Chicago Church of Christ. Chris Guerra, now from the Maryland/DC area, a brother who has had a tremendous impact on the Church in Chicago, was brought into town to direct two of his classics: Stand in Awe and They Raised Their Voices Together.

Other talent, originally from Chicago and now from around the country, was tapped as well. Abby Maxwell, now in New Mexico, and John Mannel, now in LA, were recorded in their home towns and added to the CD.

"The title, Through Water & Fire, is reflective of what we've been through as a church", says producer Steve Pederson. "We've all been redeemed in the water of baptism, and we've all been through the refining fire of God's discipline. Together, we have all been 'through water and fire', and the songs on this CD reflect that."

Anyone who enjoys music, and especially spiritually uplifting music, will enjoy this CD. The songs on this CD vary in style as widely as the culture of the church - which was the goal. There is gospel, jazz, country-folk, rock, acapella, Latino, theatrical and R&B types of music on this CD, which is really reflective of the diverse make up of the church.

Anyone who has been a part of, or visited, the Chicago Church will want to get a copy for the slideshow alone. Over 800 photos provide a very nostalgic trip down memory lane.

It's a time capsule, historical benchmark, soul inspiring, spiritually uplifting multimedia experience that is well worth adding to your collection.
