All things new in St. Louis: Building, Name, Website, E-Invites, Sermons and Vision

“I am making everything new.” Revelation 21:5

There is no question but that we all enjoy new things. We love new movies, new clothes, new restaurants… and the new starts that a New Year provides. In the church in St. Louis, there are quite a few new things that we are excited about in this New Year.

First, we are still enjoying our new building. It was just over a year ago that we purchased our first building in our 20 year history. Gone are the days of roaming from hotel to hotel and scrambling to let all of our members know of the latest location change. God blessed us with a school and attached auditorium, previously owned by the Catholic Church, and sitting on more than seven acres of land. It even came with a sublease of a St. Louis County public school’s early learning center, which helps us pay the new bills.

We timed our move into this building with a change to a new name. We are now The Greater St. Louis Church. So many new ministries, new opportunities and new visions have been born because of our new building.

Just last week we also had a soft launch of a new website (www.greaterstlchurch.org). We are excited about the many new opportunities it will create. Beyond the new look, it will also provide us with some new tools to help build the church. All of our sermons will not only be available to listen to, but also to download onto an ipod. They will also be catalogued by speaker, topic, or title. Our members will be able to access a pictorial directory, complete with personal information and even a map to their home. To help our outreach get into the 21st century, we also have “e-invites” which are electronic invitations to church and other activities in an easy to send format.

On Sunday mornings we are beginning a new series of evangelistic sermons called, “New Resolutions.” We will be focusing on the most popular New Year’s resolutions, but providing a spiritual twist to each. With thousands of invitations being mailed to the surrounding community and many more personal invitations being either hand delivered or emailed to friends, hopefully we will see many new guests in the upcoming weeks. After that, we are looking forward to seeing many new Christians in our midst.

There are many other new goals and visions that we have as a congregation. Thank God for the new start that we always have available to us because of the new life we have in Jesus.
