This past school year has been incredible for the teen ministry at the Church at Shiloh Farm in Tallahassee, Florida! The Church has been inspired by the growth, both numerically and spiritually, in our teen disciples. At the beginning of the 2006-07 school year, the teen ministry had a total of 4 disciples (3 boys and 1 girl) in the entire school district. By the end of the summer of 2007 there were 10 new disciples baptized into Christ!
To make this even greater, 8 of these new disciples did not grow up in the church but were reached by their friends on campus. In addition, two disciples at the largest, most diverse school started a Bible talk on campus during lunch. Initially, it attracted 10-15 visitors but quickly grew to average between 20 & 30 students per week! Later in the year, two other disciples began a bible talk on campus at another large high school. The first week, 16 students attended and one freshman disciple brought 10 of his friends to the Bible Talk!
As a body, we have had two services led completely by our teens and college students. It was clearly inspiring to both the members and our visitors to witness high school and college students preaching God’s word. During each of these services, our teen and college students not only led the congregation in prayer and communion, but also boldly preached to their friends and families! God has truly blessed us in amazing ways, and continues to do so as we eagerly anticipate more teen baptisms as we begin 2008! |
