Downtown JakartaIn the largest Muslim nation on earth, disciples are making a difference in schools, in the marketplace, in the home and in the lives of singles and teens.

Impact in Schools

In Tangerang (West Jakarta), several moms approached the schools their children are attending, and were able to get involved in school activities. Chandra organized Christian lessons for her children in their government school and got many warm responses from the other Christian parents. Joyce is invited to help in teaching English in her daughter’s school and had a bible devotion for the teachers.

In South Jakarta, Pondok Indah, a few mothers organized prayer morning every Friday. They called the prayer meeting “ Moms In Touch”. It is inspiring that several of the mothers are studying the bible and some dads are also open to personal bible study. We have had several baptisms and about 3 more couples are having on-going personal bible study. The Word of God is so powerful.

Impact in the Marketplace

Jakarta at nightJakarta, Indonesia... Many disciples owning their own business are taking a radical approach to reaching out to people with the Word of God. It is encouraging to hear consistent good news that disciples are often invited to preach at Businessmen Fellowships such as Full Gospel nowadays. It is inspiring to see these busy men, making the time and waking up early to have personal bible study with their friends. They meet together as early as 6:30 in the morning for a cup of coffee and sharing the Word of God in Starbuck or Coffee Bean. (Yes, we have those in Jakarta, too!) They can be busy with their professional jobs and running their business, but they keep a tight schedule to meeting their priorities with God, family and community.

Jakarta Singles and Youth Ministry Rock!

The Jakarta Singles Ministry has been having its own services one a month regularly on Saturday nights. It is encouraging to see many young people have studied the bible and been baptized this year. And three singles, in their “prime time” in life, have just signed up to go into the full time ministry.

This year, our Teens Ministry baptized more than 15 teens with deep conviction and great vision. Not only that, they also organized regular fun-sport devotionals. They are on a project to produce their first youth “Praise & Worship Music album” written and composed by the teens themselves, helped by our dearest faithful sister, Rita Silalahi, who was a part of the group of early converts from the Berklee School of Music in Boston in the late 80’s. It is so amazing to see their zeal for God and his Kingdom.
