New Website for Deaf Ministry PDF Print Email

I was born in Bogota, Colombia. At the age of 5, I experienced a profound hearing loss in both ears. I now have to wear hearing aids for the rest of my life. I didn't understand why this all happened, and at times my communication skills have obviously suffered. But I trained myself in terms of speech therapy and practiced how to pronounce words correctly. When I was a child, I dealt with depression, and occasionally I felt lonely at school. That is finished now.

I was baptized by a deaf brother, Andrew Felter, on November 21st, 1996. The bible studies helped me to learn to accept my deafness and overcome my depression. I was frustrated at times not understanding 100% of the church services without an interpreter. Still, after a long search, God answered my prayer for a certified interpreter. In October 2004-present, Renae Quick started to interpreted for the church.

My wife, Carole, is deaf and has been a disciple since 1985. Both of us are the founders of the Deaf Ministry at the Mission Point Christian Church in San Antonio. We are fluent in American Sign Language.

Our vision and passion is to serve the Deaf Ministry for the long term. I am Creator of the Deaf Ministry website at www.dmicoc.org. Our goals are to spread the good news about our website, and to build friendships and unity in the Kingdom. Our hearts are willing to support our ministry the best as we can. GO DEAF MINISTRY GO!
