The Tampa Church is gearing up to host its 7th Annual Playmakers Bowl Tournament from January 15-17, 2010.

The idea for this annual flag football tournament started in 2003 as brothers reminisced on the great memories they had visiting other churches and competing with one another in a Christ-centered atmosphere. The idea turned into our first statewide flag football tournament with teams representing four different churches.

The Fun

Every Playmakers Bowl just keeps getting better and better. This weekend long event typically kicks-off with a Kingdom dance party hosted by DJ Ron Mic that welcomes all of our arriving brothers and sisters into town. The next two days exhibit the main event as four side-by-side fields on the campus of the University of South Florida are filled with teams from our family of churches. Teams take on one another with displays of incredible talent and sidelines are packed with cheering fans.

The Faith

However, what would be a Kingdom tournament without Christ as its center? Before the games even begin, the players and spectators start the morning glorifying God as we meet on the field for an amazing devotional. Preparing our hearts and minds for the spiritual battle we face daily, the morning devotional helps us strap on our spiritual armor and take on whatever challenges may come our way. The following morning the entire Tampa Church joins our visitors for a Sunday service on the fields. This is a magnificent sight to see as we worship God as a community of believers unified in Christ.

The Fellowship

The event truly provides a family atmosphere as children are found playing together in bounce houses, enjoying face-painting and other child-friendly activities. Teens are able to interact with great role models, whether cheering on the side or playing on the field with members of our campus, singles, and married ministries. Visitors to our churches have been inspired by the love and unity they experience while partaking in the event. This has led many to study the bible and even become disciples. With brothers and sisters representing churches from all over the state of Florida, Georgia, and recently Tennessee, the Playmakers Bowl proves to be a great event to fellowship with our family in Christ.

No matter where you’re from, The Tampa Church invites you to participate in this weekend of fun, faith and fellowship from January 15th – 17th.
