Wichita Church logoThe Leadership Group of the Wichita Church of Christ (WCC) would like to announce that we are currently accepting applications for the position of Lead Evangelist. Specifically, we are looking for an experienced ministry couple. Please forward this information to anyone who might be interested and ask them to get in touch with us.

Brief history of the Wichita church and some information about our city

- Our congregation held its first official service in April 1991. We were planted by a group from the Kansas City Church of Christ along with disciples already living in Wichita.
- We are proud to say that over the years our church has sent out numerous mission teams. There are disciples throughout the midwest with roots in Wichita.
- We are also very proud that for over 10 years we have consistently supported HOPE Worldwide.
- We have been blessed with the same ministry couple for the past 8 ½ years. Today our church is composed of roughly 110 believers and 50 children.
- We are looking for a couple with a reputation for building trustworthy relationships that can effectively counsel a wide range of personalities and life situations.
- We feel our biggest need right now is to find a couple that can inspire us to greater faith in God while fostering a healthy atmosphere of accountability and direction so together we can reach our goals.
- This couple must be prepared to mentor our newly hired campus & teen leaders – a young couple converted in our teen ministry who went onto to college, got married, then moved to help start another church in Kansas before returning.
- We have a very progressive music and worship ministry that has influenced several other ICOC churches. For the couple who finds fulfillment in using their artistic talent, this would bode well.
- The Wichita church is part of the Heartland region of ICOC churches enjoying close, warm fellowship. Driving times to some of our sister churches are surprisingly short: Manhattan, KS – 2:15; Kansas City, KS – 3 hours; Tulsa, OK – 2:30; Oklahoma City, OK – 2:40.
- Wichita’s largest college is Wichita State University (home of the Shockers). Other 4-year colleges include Friends University and Newman University, which have religious affiliations.
- Despite rumors that Wichita is merely an overgrown cow town, our city is best known for its aviation industry. We have lots of sunny days plus a wide range of outdoor activities. The total population including the surrounding communities is around 400,000.
- Wichita will appeal to someone who enjoys four seasons of weather and loves a good sized home at a very affordable price. Wichita is child-friendly with lots of museums and cultural activities.
- Many of our citizens are native to Wichita, so this couple should have the mindset of building long term ties with the community in order to influence and convert the lost.

The potential start date for a new leader is June 1, 2008.

If you have any interest in this ministry position or would like to know more about the opening, please contact Ken Johnson at kjohnson_49@cox.net or Mike Lovelace at mjlovelace@cox.net .

Finally, please say a prayer for us here in Wichita. We hold on to the hope that God will bring the right couple here to meet our needs, and us to meet theirs.

Love in Christ,

Ken Johnson, Mike Lovelace, Mark Hoyle, Bruce Matthews, and Rob Milner
