Proverbs 14:31b says, “Whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” We all have different needs at different times in our lives. Vennie’s gift is that she is great at meeting needs. From a young age she would take care of her father while her mom was at work. When her mom had surgery, she nursed her back to health. Vennie also cared for her 10 children. As her children grew, she took in runaways, homeless teens, and adults to give a better life. She often still prays for the souls that she impacted and the ones from whom she never heard again.
She fed them, housed them, and stayed up all night with them. She made sure they didn’t sneak out of the house, and generally showed them a better direction in life. As she trusted God, she called them to trust her for safety and security in their lives, even if only for a short time. Her husband David was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago. The doctors said he would die in just a few days, but Vennie prayed and believed that God would spare his life – and He did! Now Vennie takes care of Rena every day with joy in her heart and a tired body. She is truly wonderful! Vennie serves the church in a great way. She is an active member of the Super Aces Bible Talk: “This is what I was meant to do!”
