Finish This Race is a song that I began writing during the 3 hour drive from my home in Wichita, Kansas to the sight of the 2009 Kansas Ironman 70.3 triathlon race. The Ironman 70.3 consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run (70.3 miles total).

Eighteen months ago I enrolled in a 4 month triathlon training class. Then, this past December a friend suggested I purchase the Triathletes Training Bible...what a fitting title. With this training bible in one hand and my Holy Bible in the other, I embarked on a 6 month journey of strict training. Words can't begin to express what I have learned about perseverence and discipline. Did I finish this race? Yes! I left everything on the course that day (June 14) finishing in 5 hours, 24 minutes.
