Bearing Fruit From a Seed Planted at 8 Years Old PDF Print Email
by By Ronny & Katrine Yttrehus, Bergen, Norway  -  Tuesday, 07 April 2009

Here in Bergen, Norway, the first three months of 2009 have been busy, intense and most of all, faith-building!

Being involved in studying the Bible with many men and women helped us realize we are still in the battle! And on Monday, March 30th, the whole church got together in our apartment to witness and celebrate the baptism of Silje, a 19-year-old student, who had been studying the Bible since January.

Silje’s story is special in that she actually took part in the Nordic Missions Conference at Eckerö back in 1997, when she was only 8 years old! Her whole family attended that conference, her father being the brother of our sister Marit from the Oslo Church. Last August, as Silje moved from her small hometown to study at the Teachers Academy in Bergen, we made contact and saw her coming to more and more events, opening gradually to the idea that God has a plan for her. She is a fun and easy-going woman with a deep respect for God's Word and a genuine appreciation for the fellowship. At her baptism, her aunt and uncle (Marit and Levi) came over from Oslo with their whole family and it was a very special moment to hear them share about their prayers for her and how her decision gave them (and us) new hope and faith for our relatives. Please keep Silje, and us, in your prayers!

To God be the glory!
