“Dear
Certainly, going to God first and then the brothers and sisters around us is God’s plan for our lives. There are so many scriptures that teach us the way to live, and also many that teach us the importance of seeking advice. Another upcoming feature of this column will be the sharing of letters to “all women disciples around the world.” The intent of this part of “Dear Lydia” is to glean from the experience of numerous elder’s wives and older women of faith among us. These sisters will share something they would most want to pass on to other sisters, from their years of walking with God in their lives through the mountains and valleys of life. Please send letters and feedback to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it Dear My husband never takes the lead in doing any spiritual activities with our children. So most of the time I go ahead and pray with the kids, lead the prayer at meals, and plan family devotionals. How can I get my husband to LEAD! Dear Sister Wants-her-husband-to-Lead, Do you ask your husband each time you assume the role of leadership if that is what he wants you to do? It sounds as if you assume he will not do it, so you usurp him. I would suggest that instead of taking over, say, “Honey, will you lead us in prayer?” “Honey, may we have a devotional tonight?” “How can I help?” The best way for you to encourage your husband to lead is to be a loyal, loving, encouraging follower! |
