When God is Our Coworker Featured

Triangle Church of Christ campus ministry cookoutWithout God we are not much, even nothing. With God all things are possible indeed. Sunday, September 18 was the Campus Day and campus-led worship service in the Triangle Church of Christ. The encouragement was rich and can only be explained in light of God being our coworker (1 Corinthians 3:5-9).

Through connections that only God can arrange and use (curiosity about a ‘suspected’ news reporter, a fight in a courtroom) the entire NC Central University women’s basketball team and coaching staff joined us, along with representatives from the NC State Wolfpack cheerleading team.

With 1,000 plus gathered, twins and spiritual twins Kiera and Sierra Lunn of Duke gave a warm engaging welcome and then Grason Humphrey of NC State took us all in prayer to our God. Josh Stephen Richardson from East Carolina University and his singers led us in stirring praise and worship and Ashlyn Jones, UNC, and Justin Baird, NC State, took us to the foot of the cross in communion. The Lord used Sheldon Sadler, Shaw University, as he read God’s Word powerfully followed by Joseph Porter, UNC, who preached that God’s kingdom is in fact very good news!

An exhortation to respond was offered by Sharice Wells of NC State and Michael Paulk of Duke.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a cookout fit for royalty, provided by servant-hearted families such as the Fullers, Blackwells, Coxes, and Neighbors. Over 150 were fed and shared a meal together (note that Jesus still holds the record by far at 5,000!). Connections were made, Bible studies started, and friendships were formed for eternity and to God’s glory.

We thank our shepherds and staff for having the confidence and humility to give campus the keys and let us drive a bit. When God is our coworker, with his help, let’s turn it up!
