Shavout - Birthday of the Church

The Jewish holiday of Shavuot begins sundown Sunday night May 27, 2012. Jews around the world welcome this time which is also referred to as the “Feast of weeks”, “Pentecost” or “Season of the giving of the law”. It derives its name from the fact that it was to occur exactly 7 weeks from the Sabbath day after Passover. Many disciples do not realize the tremendous significance of this holiday and even fewer understand its correlation with the beginning of the church as described in the second chapter of Acts.

1st Ever Open-Caption Movie Event: Avengers

Joe Cepeda and Michael Razzen are the current host and co-host of a Facebook page called SADCOCM (San Antonio Deaf Community Open-caption Movie)

Michael is the host of the Deaf Night Out on the 4th Friday of every month. Their goal is to expose the Deaf Community to the open-caption new release movies. They communicate with each other by videophone, texts, and emails, planning in advance for each open-caption movie event.

On March 2012, Joe contacted the movie theater manager, Brandon Wheeler, at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, to request that on May 4, 2012, Avengers be the 1st open-caption movie showed. What happened was truly amazing!

Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital Opens in Kampot, Cambodia

ANNOUNCING: The opening of the outpatient department of the Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital in Kampot, Cambodia

“From all of us at Sonya Kill Memorial Hospital please accept our heartfelt thanks for your support. Your compassion keeps hope alive for so many.”

April 1, 2012 was the day HOPE worldwide opened its outpatient department of the Sonja Kill Memorial Hospital in Kampot. Approximately 300 families and local health partners participated in the opening. We also conducted a health fair with a variety of health stations for adults and children. Present were Mrs. Rosemary Kill, one of the cofounders who built the hospital, and Dr. Franz Marcos, international project director for KMW a chief funder of the hospital.
